Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Simmons King age 71, of Guntersville born in Marshall County to James (Dixie) and Mary Harris Simmons. Visitation will be Monday, September 18, 2023 from 5pm-8pm at Carr Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 19, 2023 2pm at Carr Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Nixon Chapel Cemetery. Miss Polly gained her heavenly wings on September 13, 2023 at Diversicare in Boaz. She had been there three weeks. In her lifetime she and Jerry Wayne King had been married for 52 years. In her early working years she worked at Rays’ BBQ cafe for many years as a cook and waitress. Her last 25 years of work were at Marshall Medical Center North in the environmental dept, until she had a stroke in 2009. She returned home from rehab in 2010, where she was pretty much homebound paralyzed on her left side, that didn’t stop her from going to her favorite place. the smokey mtns. They visited as often as they could with family. She loved working in the yard, going to flea markets, her family and helping others when she could. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Jerry Wayne King of Guntersville; brothers, Willie Simmons of Boaz, Robert (Shanna) Simmons of Boaz, Benny King of Arab; sisters, Martha (Rickey) Roden, Suzie King Walden, Patricia King Lecroy, Wanda King Collins; multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by, parents, James (Dixie) and Mary Harris Simmons, one brother, and several sisters, grandparents, nieces and nephews, along with in-laws, Leonard and Mary Lou Snow King.
