Rev. Paul W. Owen, 81 of Birmingham passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital/Birmingham. He was a native of Marshall County, Alabama and a member of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Rev. Owen served as a pastor of United Methodist Churches across North Alabama for over 35 years. He was well known for his passion for mission. He was not only gifted in pastoral ministry, but was an award winning woodworker with musical instruments.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. James Cotton and Dr. Rick Owen. A memorial service for Rev. Owen will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church with visitation to follow the service.
Rev. Owen is survived by his wife, Norma Hardeman Owen, son, Rick Owen(Pat), daughter, Lisa Socha(David), grandchildren, Michael Owen(Jess), Sarah Owen, Brett Socha(Brittany), and Emily Socha.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Imagine No Malaria Fund at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church or to a United Methodist Church of your choice.
