Mr. Paul Truman WeeksPaul Truman Weeks, 75, former resident of Taft, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, from 1:00 – 3:00pm, with a service immediately following at Scottsboro Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. The services will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Bennett.

Pallbearers will be Ben R. Thomas III, Gregg Smith, Jared Smith, Reece Jernigan, Mitchell Holden, and Shelton Moomaw. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Lowe and Mickey Guthrie.

Paul was born in Scottsboro, AL, on June 11, 1949. He was one of twelve children born to Mrs. Edith Phillips Weeks of Marshall County. Paul grew up in Scottsboro and graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1967. He entered the Army and served his country with Honor for nearly 2 years. After being injured in combat in Vietnam he was released and awarded the Purple Heart. Paul then attended Calhoun Community College and finished his degree at Athens State University. He worked for the Huntsville Police Department as a police officer, then a sergeant, and was then promoted to probation officer where he served until retirement. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

On October 11, 1996, Paul married Patsy (Pat) Thomas and the two have been happily married for nearly 28 years. The couple have a daughter Kellye Thomas Lowe (Andrew Lowe), a son Ben R. Thomas III (Jennifer Thomas), and a daughter Lucretia Weeks Smith (Gregg Smith). They have 7 grandchildren: Whitney Thomas Jernigan, Katie Thomas Holden, Ava Lowe, Leah Smith Moomaw, Vivian Lowe, Cassie Thomas, and Jared Smith. They also have a great-grandson, Wells Jernigan.

Paul was predeceased by his mother Edith Weeks, one sister Elsie Weeks Fitts; brothers Atha Weeks, Otha Weeks, Homer Gerald Weeks, and Thomas Weeks.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandson; his sisters Virginia Weeks Lusk, Glenda Weeks Byrd, and Pat Weeks Hughes; and his brothers Hubert Weeks, Herbert Weeks (Christine), and Doyle Weeks (Suzanne). He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Compassus Hospice team who helped care for him.
