Paul Evan Jones passed away from cancer on December 16, 2020, at home with his wife by his side.
Paul proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, earning a multitude of the highest accolades, and retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was a veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. Paul was a Radar Approach Controller, as well as an Air Traffic Controller. As a civilian in his forties, Paul made the important decision to attend college and major in Computer Science, obtaining both an Associate of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree, turning him into an IT Guru. His latest retirement was from Regions Riverchase Operations Center, where he was a Database Administrator for the Mortgage Department.
Born in Michigan to a military family, Paul’s fondest memories were of Japan, where he resided for several years of his childhood. During his teenage years, his family lived in England. Paul was an avid history buff, whose hobbies comprised of playing computer games, cooking, working out, and debating. Paul’s caring and immense generosity will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Jones; brother, Stephen Jones; and best friend, Leo Bauer.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Dawn Jones; mother, Pauline Jones; sisters, Julia (John) Watkins, Linda (Adam) Kiraly, and Anita Carol (Rodger) Boyd; daughter, Courtney (Manny) Mendoza; grandchildren, Owen Bennett Fuller, Landon Mendoza, Baylin Armstrong, and soon to arrive, Whitley Mendoza; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul requested to be cremated and have his ashes spread at sea.
