Funeral Services for Mr. Paul E. Scott, age 87 of Oxford, will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow at the Ashland City Cemetery.

Mr. Scott passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Clay County Nursing Home. He was born in Cullman County, and upon graduating High School moved to the Oxford area. He worked for multiple businesses in his early career, including the G.E. plant, various grocery companies, and the Millbrook Bread Company. He began working in the restaurant business around 1970, operating multiple Dairy Queens and other restaurants in his time. Upon settling in Clay County, He also managed Burger Quick in Lineville, the Dairy Queen location in Ashland, and other local restaurants. Mr. Scott was a lifetime supporter of the Big Oak Ranch and the Alabama Sherriff’s Association. When he wasn’t working, He enjoyed collecting and working on Antique Tractors. He was described as having a dry sense of humor and entertaining. He saw the value in things, and was compassionate and helpful to those in need. Mr. Scott was also a member of the Order of the Blue Light and Masonic Ashland Lodge, and the Shriners.

Mr. Scott is survived by his two sons: Paul Edward Scott (Darlene) of Lineville and Jay Scott (LeeAnn) of Wedowee; five grandchildren: Robert Dewayne Scott (Andrea), Christopher Lee Scott (Cayla), Tristen Scott (Alexis), Samuel Scott (Erin), and Matthew Scott (Siri); seven great-grandchildren: Izabella Sophia, Aaron Paul, Toby, Cody, Meadow, Everett, and Emma; one sister, JoAnn Maddox of Montgomery, plus other extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents: William Buford and Barney Lee Stockley Scott; his wife, Nancy Scott; and his son, Robert Eugene “Robbie” Scott.

Active Pallbearers will be Dewayne Scott, Christopher Scott, Tristen Scott, Samuel Scott, Matthew Scott, Donnie Maddox, Dave Maddox, Teddy Maddox, Gary Maddox, Kris Gibbs, and Greg Hall. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews.

His visitation will take place on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 12:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
