Paul Davis Goode, 93 years of age, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024. He was born on April 22, 1930, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late James and Stacy Swinford Goode.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, James and Stacy Swinford Goode. He also lost his two brothers, Jerry and Melvin Goode, and his sister, Brenda.
Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years, Onis Mansfield Goode, whom he married on September 22, 1957.
He leaves behind his daughter, Christi (Paul) Gulley, and his son, Gary Davis (Darlene Morris Jones) Goode. He was a grandfather to Marylee (Cody) Newcomb, Destiny (Leonard) Cole, Gabriel (Crystal) Jones, and great-grandfather to Parker (PD) Davis Newcomb, Tucker Ray Newcomb, Landry Blake Newcomb, Lucas Jones, and Bailey Jones, Aidan McClure and Justin Allen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.
As a young boy, Paul began working as a paperboy at the age of 13, learning the value of hard work and self-sufficiency from an early age. He later retired from AT&T (formerly South Central Bell) after 35 years of service.
During his military service, Paul served as a communication specialist in the US Army during the Korean War. His bravery and commitment to his country were evident in everything he did.
Paul had a passion for photography, capturing the beauty of the world through his lens. He played the harmonica for an impressive 78 years, sharing his love for music with others. He loved traveling and had visited every state except for two: Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Paul dedicated seven years of his life to working at the Lincoln County Veterans Service Office. Paul was also a long-standing member of Park City Baptist Church and proudly identified as a Baptist for 78 years. He was a member of the HSV Track Club. He was a skilled roller skater and loved riding a motorcycle as well as a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a dedicated HAM radio operator and a respected member of the Towry family.
The family will receive family and friends Thursday evening, February 15, from 5:00 PM until 8::00 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Park City Baptist Church, located on Huntsville Highway in Fayetteville, TN, USA, on February 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with visitation one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Park City Baptist Church. building fund or a favorite charity in Mr. Goode’s memory.
