Paul Bolton Malugin, 88, retired employee of TVA, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at his residence on Morris Avenue.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Danny Lunn officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born October 7, 1929 in Hickman County, he was the son of the late David Crockett “Dave” Malugin and the late Maude McCandless Malugin. On August 31, 1968, he married Clara Mai Shouse Bratton Malugin and they had recently celebrated their Fiftieth Anniversary. He retired after eighteen years employment with TVA and was previously a truck driver for the Teamsters Union and a farmer. He was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather and trusted friend. An avid antique collector and dealer, he had a booth at Carter’s Creek Station Antique Mall. Mr. Malugin enjoyed the great outdoors and camping with his family and friends; and he and Clara Mai had traveled all forty-eight continental United States, as well as Mexico and Canada. He enjoyed music and dancing. He was a member of the Laborers Union and a longtime active member of Water Valley Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tina Malugin Hudgins (Ronnie) Wells of Ider, Alabama, Bethany Malugin of Santa Fe, Robert “Tony” Bratton, Joy Lynn Bratton Nelson (Wayne Phillips) and Randy (Connie) Bratton, all of Columbia; sister, Viola McCord of Santa Fe; brothers, Boyd (Helen) Malugin and Thomas (Helen) Malugin, both of Santa Fe, Leslie (Ruby) Malugin of Columbia; grandchildren, Johnny (Courtney) Hudgins, B. J. (Tiffany) Hudgins, Chandler Connelly, Trenton Connelly, Samantha Connelly, Suzi Bratton Cox, Kristen (Rodney) Benderman, Brandy (Johnathan) Norman, Ashley (Adam) Sisk, Adam (Elizabeth) Bratton; ten great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wesley Roberts, J. W. & Jewell Shouse, Janet Shouse, Betty Shouse, Martha Nichols, Faye & Gerald Adkison; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bobby Bratton; great granddaughter, Rylee Elizabeth Bratton; brothers, James Malugin and Leonard Malugin; sisters, Willine Roberts, Cora Lee Beard, Clara Mae Slaughter; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Shouse, Arthur Shouse, and Steve Nichols.
His nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
