Paul’s journey through life was marked by love and resilience. He married Mary Frances McLaughlin in 1958, a union that brought joy until her untimely passing in 1973. His heart found love again with Martha Carol Bevis in 1977, who also left this world too soon in 1999. A dedicated worker, Paul spent many years as a Switchman and Conductor for CSX/L&N/Norfolk Southern Railway before transitioning to a fulfilling life of cattle farming. His contributions extended beyond his profession; he was an active member of the Petersville Church of Christ. Paul’s passions included squirrel hunting with his beloved dog, Spotty. He also generously volunteered at local fish fries and chicken stew dinners, embodying the spirit of community. However, his greatest joy came from the laughter and warmth he shared with family and friends. He created countless cherished memories filled with love and laughter, a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Kelvin Dodd (Janelle) of Florence, AL; daughters, Mary Ellen Hazelbaker (Jackie) of Waterloo, AL, and April Strait (Bradley) of Cypress Inn, TN; sister, Martha Wooten of Florence, AL; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wives and parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Dodd; and sisters, Blanch Kleinschmidt, Jean Kay, Jewel Bissey, and Betty Garner.
