Patsy Le’na Baker was born in Franklin County, Tennessee on June 22, 1955 to the loving parents of Lena and Robert Baker Sr. On Wednesday evening, November 25th she answered the Master’s call from labor to reward.
Patsy grew up in a Christian family and accepted Christ at an early age, She learned about the Lord attending the Presbyterian church with her Grandmother Clara Bean Simmons, was baptized at Beans Creek P.B. Church in Huntland and was a member of Mt. Olive P.B. Church in Winchester at her death. She found great joy in preparing for fellowship occasions at Mt. Olive and was always in charge when she served on a committee.
She began her formal education in Belvidere, was a 1973 graduate of Franklin County High School, and matriculated to Tennessee State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She later earned her master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Tennessee, Nashville. She was Chairperson of the Martin Luther Scholarship Foundation, a member of the Kiwanis of Winchester, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Braden Chapter #105 Order or the Eastern Star as well as many other social and civic organizations.
Though she was a social worker at heart and felt she had the ability to help anyone deal with their social or emotional problems, her greatest talents were “people skills”, cooking, decorating, and talking. Her philosophy was “Presentation is Everything.” She was a great presenter of her skills and character.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son Patrick, granddaughter, ZeeZa, mother, Lena Baker, sister Barbara Petty and brother Robert Baker, Jr (Sharon). She will always have a special place in the hearts of her niece Terri Anderson and nephews Justin Mosley , Brandon Baker and her great nieces and nephews. She will also be sorely missed by her aunts, uncleand Cousin Laurissa Garlington. The “First Cousins” will miss her ability to take charge of any of their planned outings or celebrations, her creative touch, solution for any problem, and her “the show must go on” attitude will never be forgotten. She will be missed by countless friends as well, especially her sorority sister Helen Dean, who has been her best friend since college.
