Patsy Brown Kidd of Daphne, Alabama, passed away on October 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, followed by a short service at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, 202 Maple Hill Drive SE, Huntsville, AL.

Pat was born in Huntsville to Mildred Jewel Brown and Dallas Bridges Brown on February 14, 1935. She graduated from Huntsville High School where she was voted Most Likely to Succeed in her major field. She was the Gifttorian of her graduation class and the Senior Front-Page Editor of the Red and Blue school newspaper.

She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English and Secretarial Science from Florence State University. She was the student secretary for the head of the business department at Florence State. During her sophomore year, she married the love of her life, Robert LeRoy Kidd. They were married for 53 years before he went to his heavenly home.

Pat worked for 30 years as an administrative assistant at Birmingham-Southern College. She managed and oversaw the foreign exchange student program. She loved building relationships with all the young people. She and Robert spent many years as youth counselors at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.

She and Robert moved from Vestavia, AL to Daphne, AL 17 years ago. They enjoyed driving to the bay to watch the ducks. But what she loved most was spending time with all her family and all her grandchildren. Her home was the spot for many family gatherings and these times gave her immense joy. She quickly became known as the “cul-de-sac grandmother” to everyone in her neighborhood.

Pat was a lifetime member of Thomas Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the front desk with one of her best friends, Grace Nelson, greeting families and delivering flowers to patients’ rooms. After her husband Robert’s passing, she taught a grief support group with her other best friend, Mildred Taylor, for six years at City Hope Church. She was an incredible listener, mentor, encourager, and a mighty prayer warrior.

Pat is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Phil Cusa and Krista and Ernie Fehler; her grandchildren, Brad and Masha Yockers, Ben and Taylor Yockers, Brian Kelly, Bailey Kelly, Savannah Fehler, and Carson and Kristen Fehler; her great grandson, Griffin Mothershed, and her sister and brother-in-law, Beverlye Jean Brown and Sam Mann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kidd, her brother, Bobby Brown, and her parents, Dallas and Jewel Brown.

Pat had a positive impact on everyone she met. She always had a smile and kind words to share. She was a blessing to all who met her or knew her. Heaven has certainly gained a new beautiful angel.
