Patsy Anne Dabney passed away peacefully on May 15, 2021 at the age of 92, at Limestone Health Facility, in Athens, AL. Patsy is survived by husband of 74 years, Thomas B. Dabney, her daughter Donna McDaniel (Jack) of Athens, Blake McDaniel of Nashville, Andrew McDaniel (Yuka) of Fukuoka, Japan, and Anna Clem (Andy) of Athens, as well as her eight great grandchildren.
She was born January 15, 1929 in Elkton, Kentucky to Woodford J. and Louise Wakefield. She had one brother, Joe Wakefield who preceded her in death.
Patsy lived most of her life in Corinth, Mississippi where she worked for ITT Telecommunications and Magnolia Hospital.
Patsy could be described as friendly, faithful, and fun. At Limestone Health Facility the employees added “feisty” to the list. She loved bowling and fishing, and she excelled at both. She bowled on the most successful bowling team in Corinth’s history, a ladies team sponsored by ITT Telecom. She also loved animals of every kind and spent most of her life caring for them in some capacity.
Her favorite role in life was as a grandmother, always supporting her grandchildren in all their endeavors. She and her husband Tom became regular fixtures at all of their extracurricular activities.
She and Tom moved from Corinth, MS to their home on Madison Street, Athens, AL in 2007, and she entered Limestone Heath Facility in 2016. She loved the friends she made in Athens, especially those at Limestone Heath Facility, both residents and employees.
There will be a visitation Thursday night, May 20th from 6:00-7:30pm at the Athens First United Methodist Church and a graveside service, May 28th at 1:00pm, the Corinth National Cemetery.
