It is with immense sorrow to say that Patrick Ryan Thompson passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at his home in Pensacola, Florida at the young age of 40. Patrick was born on November 6, 1983, to proud parents Kevin and Donna Thompson. From his childhood through adulthood, he was described as shy but with a contagious sense of humor. Those who were blessed to know him in his prime described him as a happy-go-lucky man who loved music including Widespread Panic, Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, The Flaming Lips, and Billy Strings. While a humorous and carefree man, he was also compassionate with animals spending time over the years with numerous dogs and cats. He loved squirrels and their mischievous spirit and pointing them out to his daughter, Niya, on their weekly walks with his German Shepherd Raina.
A 2002 Columbia Central High School graduate, Patrick was an accomplished Chef having graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. After having served in several fine restaurants in Atlanta Georgia, Orlando, Florida, and Pensacola, Florida. He spent his final years as a Chef for LifeCare of Pensacola, providing delicious meals for seniors of the community. In the kitchen, he was loved by many as a source of comic relief for his fellow workers. Patrick was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 7447.
In addition to Niya Thompson, his daughter and greatest joy, and her mother Emily Stead, Patrick is survived by his parents: Kevin and Donna Thompson, brother Bradford Charles (Adrienne), nieces Knoxlee Elizabeth Thompson and Charlee Lynn Thompson, nephews Quinton James Abbott and Hayden Brees Abbott and his beloved dog Raina.
Patrick is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Charles and Angela Thompson and maternal grandparents Jesse and Rebecca McNeese.
Though Patrick has departed the physical world, he will live forever in the minds and hearts of his family and friends with his spirit protecting and guiding them through this journey of life. May his soul rest east until we meet again.
