“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Proverbs 116:15

On Sunday, October 6, 2024, Patricia “Pat” Ann Floyd Pickens, 75, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

A memorial service honoring Pat’s life will be held at 6 PM Thursday, October 17, 2024, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care with Bro. Don Wilson officiating.  Visitation will be from 4 PM until service time on Thursday, October 17, 2024.  On Sunday, October 20, 2024, there will be a graveside service in the Academy Baptist Church cemetery at 3 PM with Bro. Don Wilson officiating.

She was born October 16, 1948, in New Albany, MS to the late Cecil Roosevelt and Audrey Lee Bell Floyd and was a graduate of W.P. Daniel High School. Until she retired, she was a clerical clerk for BenchCraft, Gentry Gallery and The Biltrite Corporation.  On July 10, 1976, she married her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Charlie Pickens, who survives.  A faithful and devoted member of Academy Baptist Church in Blue Mountain, church was always an important part of Pat’s life.  She was a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader and composed the church bulletin for each Sunday service as long as her health permitted.

Each day started just the same, with a Diet Coke paired with one of her favorite Little Debbie snacks and her daily devotion and scripture.   As her health declined, Pat never let her illness get the best of her and always kept her faith in the Lord.  She found much joy in all varieties of flowers and was blessed with talented hands, which she used to craft, crochet and work puzzles.  Above all, Pat’s greatest blessing was her family, as she was caring, kind to others, and had a heart of gold. Love is patient, Love is kind, Love was Pat.

Today our hearts break and we feel lost, but we know that God has a bigger plan. We put our trust in him and are reminded of the verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path”. Although Pat fought an unexpected illness, we find comfort knowing that she has been healed with a brand-new body and is getting to enjoy sitting at the feet of Jesus.  “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”

Pat leaves behind her devoted husband, Charlie Pickens, one daughter, Leigh Ann Kingsley (Mark Potts), one son, Christopher Blake Daniels, two grandchildren, Kristin Lunn (Dustin) and Joni Mooneyham and two great-grandchildren, Tucker Lunn and Ryder Wiles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Sue Pannell and Jean Brandon and three brothers, Jack Floyd, Derrell Floyd and Ferrell Floyd.

New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care invited you to share memories with Pat’s family.
