Mrs. Patricia Nell Shelton Whitworth, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 13, 2023, in Madison, Alabama. She was born on October 26, 1939, in Huntsville, Alabama to loving parents Hoyte and Septimia Shelton. Patricia’s passing is mourned by her loving family and friends.
Patricia had an active and fulfilling life. She graduated from Butler High School in 1958 and went on to touch the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Patricia was a dedicated member of the Homemakers Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Madison for many years. Her faith played a significant role in her life, guiding her actions and providing her with strength during both joyful and challenging times.
One of Patricia’s proudest accomplishments was marrying the love of her life, Homer Whitworth, in 1961. Their enduring bond was a testament to their commitment to each other through thick and thin. They shared a beautiful journey together filled with love, companionship, and mutual support.
First Baptist Church of Madison will host a visitation service for Patricia on August 18, 2023, at their location on 4257 Sullivan St in Madison. The church will then host a funeral service to celebrate Patricia’s life.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Beth Hill; son-in-law Philip Hill; grandsons Stephen Hill and Ryan Hill; granddaughter-in-law Colee Hill; great-granddaughter Avalyn Hill; brother-in-law Harry Reid; niece Leslie (Jon) Brasher; niece Nell Reid; cousin Donna White Shelton (Ken); and cousin Mike White (Sharon). Each of them will carry forward precious memories of Patricia and the impact she had on their lives.
Patricia is preceded in death her husband Homer; by her son Shane Whitworth; sister Teresia Reid; father Hoyte Shelton; and her mother Septimia White Shelton.
Patricia Shelton Whitworth will be remembered as a kind-hearted, strong-willed, and deeply loving woman. Her smile could brighten any room, and her gentle nature made everyone feel valued and cared for. Patricia’s legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we say our final goodbyes to Patricia, let us also celebrate the incredible life she lived. May her memory live on in our hearts, reminding us to cherish every moment with our loved ones and to always extend a helping hand to those in need.
