After 73 years during which time she was a devoted wife and loving mother, and after 73 years in which she was an educator, a passionate gardener, a civic-minded community activist, and at all times possessed of a loving heart and boundless generosity, our dear Pat was summoned by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 16, 2016, that her earthly chores were completed and she embarked on her journey to the light of our Lord. The first born child of the union between the late William George Bulls Jr., who imbued her with a lifelong thirst for knowledge, and Lucy Bell Harden Bulls, who gifted her with natural creative talents, along with an unparalleled work ethic, Patricia Ann Bulls Butler (Pat) was born on Nov. 26, 1942, in the Center Star community of eastern Lauderdale County. Alabama.
Left to mourn Pat’s death is her ever-loving and caring husband of 52 years, MacArthur; cherished children. Herman Eugene Bulls (Iris). of McLean, Virginia. Pamela Andrea, Michael Charles Newsome. and Patrice Arvette Beamon (Kevin). of Atlanta, Georgia; loyal sisters, Ray Evelyn Russell (Andrew), of Florence, Alabama, and Mary Louise Bulls, of Atlanta, Georgia; treasured brothers, William George Bulls III (Beverly), Chattanooga, Tennessee, Carl Erskine Bulls, of Lorain, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her sister, Pearline Bulls.
Pat left us too suddenly and all too soon, but she leaves behind a legacy to which we all can aspire.
Pat’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Friday, April 20, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Florence Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 410 E. Alabama St., Florence, Alabama. She will be entombed at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson and Sons Funeral Home, 415 S. Poplar St., Florence, Alabama. The family requests that donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Florence Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund. You may also honor Pat’s memory at no cost by showing compassion for others and extending a helping hand to those in need.
