Patricia "Pat" Ann Junkins SmithPatricia Ann Smith (née Junkins), aged 82, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, in Hueytown, Alabama. Born on January 11, 1942, in Russellville, Alabama, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Patricia, affectionately known as MomPat to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. Known for her ever-present smile and a kind word for all, she lived a life marked by her caring nature. A lover of animals, especially her devoted dog, Zane, she ensured no animal was ever hungry in her presence. Above all, her unending love and devotion to her family will be the most cherished memory held by those who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Kandis Steele-Long and her husband Ed, Christopher W. Smith and his wife June, Kimberly S. Cagle and her husband Terry; her grandchildren, Cory Steele, Samantha Long Bryant and her husband Chase, Chrissie Smith and her friend Christy Herrod, Kodi Cagle Shirley and her husband Drew, Josh Cagle and his wife Audrey, Kalie Cagle Tinker and her husband Aaron; and her great-grandchildren, Layla Steele, Whitt and Colt Shirley. Patricia also leaves behind her beloved nephew, Randy Mansell, his wife Midge, and their family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Smith, her sister, Martha Mansell, and her parents, J.D. and Mamie Junkins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Spry Memorial Chapel, followed by funeral services at 12:00 PM in the chapel.  Bro. Todd Carter will officiate the service. The burial will take place at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Spry Memorial Chapel at 907 South Jackson Avenue, Russellville, AL 35653, is assisting the family.

Pallbearers will be: Cory Steele, Josh Cagle, Aaron Tinker, Bo Mansell, Drew Mansell and Jarriod Baker.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or to your local Humane Society, honoring Patricia’s compassionate spirit and love for animals.
