A Celebration of Life for Patricia Ann Sheffield Taylor, 61 of Decatur will be noon, Thursday at Fletcher’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Madison with Elder Kenneth Lankford officiating and inhumation to follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 2-6 and Wednesday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.
On January 1, 2015, Patricia transitioned from this side of God’s earth to her new Heavenly home. She was born April 2, 1953 to the late Odell Sheffield and Charles Leon Sheffield in Decatur, AL.
She accepted Christ at an early age at King’s Memorial United Methodist Church. Years later she united with Fletcher’s Chapel P.B. Church No. 1, where she was a faithful member. She was a beautiful treasure to everyone who knew her, including family and friends. She always would keep a smile on her face no matter how she would feel, always putting people first. She was also Queen of the church. She enjoyed cooking with her grandson “Scooter”. She was an example of what it means to be a true humble servant of the Lord. Her smile and loving ways will never be forgotten. She will live in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
Patricia received her diploma from Austin High School. She later attended Athens State College where she received her degree in Early Childhood Education. In 1964 she began teaching at West Decatur as the Head Teacher of the Head Start Program. She also worked at Leon Sheffield until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a very loving and devoted husband, Willie James Taylor; one loving daughter, Demetrius (Quinton) Fletcher; one son, Charles Leon Taylor all of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Stacy Booker of Decatur; one stepson, Willie Lyle of Decatur; father-in-law Deacon Willie Taylor and mother-in-law, mother Ollie Ruth Taylor; six grandchildren, Tyrie, Tayler, Trenton, Levi, and a special devoted grandchild “Scooter” Quinton O’neal Fletcher II, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and devoted friends.

I am so sorry to hear that Pat has passed. I worked with her at head start several years. I always loved to be around her. She always talked about God and church. I want to let you all know that I am praying for you. Janice Vinson
