Patricia Ann Jones Newton passed away on May 23, 2023, peacefully at home. She was a 1964 graduate of Lauderdale County High School. She was a caring homemaker and loving grandmother. She worked as a substitute teacher, aide, and bus driver for many years. She retired from the Lauderdale County School System. She is survived by her husband of 56 years: David J. Newton; children: Ken (Sandy) and Diana McCafferty (Benjy); grandchildren: Rachel and Meredith Newton, Blayne McCafferty, Emma Brown and Jess Wright (Rance); brothers: Morris Jones (Willease) and Sam Jones (Ruth Ann); sisters-in-law: Linda Truitt, Donna Turner (Herschel), Lynn Belew (John) and Leisha Dendy; brother-in-law: Michael Newton (Janell); and numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by son: Thomas Mitchell Newton; parents: Mitchell and Allene Burgess Jones; brother: Gerald Jones; mother and father-in-law: Thomas and Mary Helen Newton; and sister-in-law: Carol Newton. Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. Graveside funeral will be Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Bonnertown Cemetery. Blayne McCafferty and Sam Jones will be officiating. The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice and all the caregivers that allowed us to keep her comfortable at home.
