Pat Trest, 85, of Corinth, MS passed away at Diversicare of Tupelo on Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born in Glenwood, AR on December 6, 1937 to the late William K. and Hazel Gill Terrell and graduated from Glenwood High School. Pat’s journey in the field of education led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University. With a passion for serving others, she dedicated her time to shaping young minds and nurturing their growth. Pat’s commitment to students was evident through her tenure at the Choctaw Tribal Council in Philadelphia, where she undoubtedly made a positive impact on those she taught. Outside of her professional life, Pat exhibited unwavering support for her sons’ athletic pursuits at Waynesboro Central High School. As a loving mother, she encouraged and cheered them on with enthusiasm. Her presence at their sports events will be remembered fondly by her family. Not only was Pat an educator and caring mother, but she also found fulfillment through active involvement in community service. She, along with her husband, was an active member of American Legion Post 138 in Philadelphia, MS. Her dedication to this organization exemplified her commitment to serving others and honoring those who have served their country. Pat participated in several mission trips with Carpenters for Christ. Through these trips, she not only demonstrated kindness towards those in need but also embodied the importance of lending a helping hand to those less fortunate. She will forever be missed by those who loved her. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7 pm Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Magnolia Funeral Home – East. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, December 1, 2023 at 1 pm at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Magnolia Funeral Home – East is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Pat’s memory include her sons, Philip Trest (Suzanne), and Bryan Trest (Daphne); her grandchildren, Patrick Trest (Allison), Josh Trest (Kelly), Zach Trest, Mackenzie Trest, and Alyssa Trest; her great grandchildren, Aiden, Ember, and Onyx; her brother, Bob Terrell (Linda); other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Trest; her brother, William “Bill” Terrell; and her sister, Sue Mirike. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Gideons International.
