Ray PenningtonMr. Owens Ray Pennington, age 70, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Ray was born on January 16, 1954, to Trib and Sue Robertson Pennington, in Birmingham, AL.  Ray was an owner/operator of trucks, driving for various companies through his career.  He retired from Phifer after fifteen years of driving.  After his retirement, Ray spent his time with his grandkids, traveling with his wife, working on the farm with his son and grandson, gardening, and working on old cars and tractors.  He was a jack of many trades, limited to nothing and willing to help anyone.  From the time he woke up to the time he went to bed, Ray lived solely for his family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 11, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Jonathan Wheeler and Jimmy McNees officiating.  Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Merchant, Lance Pennington, Jimmy Lee Odom, Jerry Huff, Andy Robertson, and John Paul Robertson.

Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kitty Pennington; his son, Thomas (Jaeda) Pennington; and his grandkids, Laken, Slade, and Sarah Monroe.  He is also survived by his brother, Alan (Patti) Pennington and his sister, Annette (Tom) Hankins; and his niece and two nephews whom he loved like his own, Amanda (Jimmy Fred) Odom, Lance (Kimberlee) Pennington, and Jonathon (Staci) Wheeler.
