Owen Roger Swinney, age 84, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Monday, Christmas Day, December 25, 2023.
Owen was a retired die cast operator at Ford Motor Company. He loved going fishing, quail hunting, and working in his garden. He was an avid Alabama fan, and everything stopped around him when the game was on. He loved his family and loved getting everyone together at Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was blessed to enjoy his last Christmas Eve with his family surrounding him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd & Wynona (Hall) Swinney; brothers, Boyd Swinney, Wayne Swinney; sisters, Margaret Welborn, Trixie Pennington, and Margie Jones Aycock.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beautiful wife of 64 years, Joyce (Aldridge) Swinney; children, Donna Parmer (Mark), Alan Swinney (Tracy), Phillip Swinney (Dedia); grandchildren, Will Parmer (Jessica), Ben Parmer (Shelby), Levi Swinney, Haley Gross (Taylor), John Parmer, Eli Swinney, Emily Swinney; great-grandchildren, Griffin Gross, Eloise Parmer; brother, Harold Swinney (Glenda); sister, Lona Mauk; and a host of nieces & nephews.
The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with James Pharr speaking at the service. The burial will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Will Parmer, Ben Parmer, Levi Swinney, John Parmer, Eli Swinney, and Taylor Gross.
