DECATUR-Over 70 teams from across the southeastern United States will travel to Decatur this weekend to compete in a youth soccer tournament. Returning for the fifth year, the Alabama Labor Day Cup is set for September 2-3, 2023, with all matches to take place at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
According to Event Organizer Scott Spencer, approximately 70 teams from seven states are expected in Decatur for the two-day tournament. Matches will be held at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex, one of the South’s premier soccer complexes boasting 11 fields and two championship fields.
From 2012 to 2017, the Labor Day Cup tournament was held in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and in 2018, it made its move to Decatur with successful results. The holiday weekend tournament offers U10-U19 boys’ and U10-U19 girls’ competitive soccer opportunities with a three game guarantee. There will be top flight competition as well as second and third tier levels of play to give most teams the right level of competition (from highly competitive to developmental). Trophies and medals will be awarded to first and second places in each division.
Parking passes for the weekend are $10 per vehicle. For more information on the tournament, visit www.premiersoccerservices.com and click on tournaments.
