LAWRENCE COUNTY – This was a great weekend for over 200 dogs and cats in Lawrence County. It was their time to get adopted into great families.
These are the animals that were discovered late last month at a County-funded rescue facility, run by 81-year-old, Bobbie Taylor. They were existing in squalid conditions, often having to fight one another for the paltry amount of food they were given. Taylor was arrested and charged with 17 counts of animal cruelty.
The A.S.P.C.A. has been working on the case since the 
alleged atrocious condition in which they were living was discovered . Team members from numerous states converged on Lawrence to facilitate the rescue, rehabilitation and adoptions. Public Information Officer, Kelly Krause told the Quad-Cities Daily this morning that over 200 adoptions took place this weekend. A.S.P.C.A. Officials also noted that many pets, once thought lost forever, have been reunited with their families.

There are still about 100 animals left. Krause said that they will be transferred to other adoption locations in several states where good homes will be found for every one of them.
This was a special time for the folks who turned out to give these animals homes. The sense of fulfillment and happiness abounded at the adoption site, just West of Town Creek.
