Ottis Barron Forrester  Ottis Barron Forrester moved to Heaven on May 1st, 2023.

He was born in Nauvoo, AL, to Grady and Lillie Mae Forrester on July 3, 1930.  He joined the Army just after high school, working his way up the ranks to SFC E6.  Traveling the world, raising children until his retirement in 1969. He received various commendations, outstanding performance awards, many good conduct awards, commendation medal in the counterinsurgency effort in the Republic of Vietnam, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Overseas Bar. He was named outstanding solider in regards to his accomplishments for the success of several missions, outstanding duty performance as Engineer Equipment Motor Pool. Ottis and his family then moved to Jasper, AL where he would retire as General Manager of the Cable Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mable Forrester, and Dorothy Forrester, brothers Milton and Earl Forrester, sister Odell Forrester, and nephew Roger Forrester.

He is survived by his children; Richard Forrester (Lisa), Janice Rogers (Brian), Marcia Hicks, Carol Eads and David Forrester. He is also survived by his Grandchildren; Matthew Eads (Dana), Stacy Singleton (Jeff), Kevin Rogers, Zachary Forrester (Kiara), Kristin Pickett (Johnathon), Emily Sandoval (Mauricio), Amy McClain, Cyndel Snodgrass (Chris), Victoria and Nicholas Forrester. He is survived by Nephews and Nieces; Dwight Forrester (Cindy), Cheryl Forrester, Brenda Moody and Jimmy Forrester. He also has many Great Nieces and Nephews.  And, he is survived by Great Grandchildren; Mateo Sandoval, Brody Pickett, Danielle and Matthew McClain, Jaxton, Jaselyn and Jaylee Singleton, Connor and Teagan Eads, Grey and C.J. Snodgrass.

His favorite bible verse was John 3:16, and his favorite Hymn is Amazing Grace. He has served his community well through the years of volunteer work with Salvation Army, and being a member of Northside Baptist Church over thirty years. Ottis was an avid Alabama Football fan. He loved playing golf and of course everyone knew about the adoration he had for his garden and blueberries.

The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper, AL at 3:00 p.m.  on Sunday May 7th 2023.  Visitation time will be from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.
