Oscar Lee Glover, 92, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born in Sheffield, AL to Brite Angelo and Clara Edith Pippin Glover. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he had served as financial secretary and taught the Men’s Sunday School class for many years. He was retired from the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant serving in Korean and Vietnam wars. He then worked for the Veteran’s Administration, retiring in 1994. Mr. Glover was a longtime member of the Red Bay Lions Club, a current member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the TN Valley Genealogical Society. He was a former member of the BTCPA appearing in numerous plays.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 5, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Dallas Culver officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ola Mae Humphries Glover; daughters, Karen Fowler (Carl) and Karla Huffman (Paul); granddaughters, Katie Hess (Marshall), Jessica Fowler; grandson, Charlie Huffman; great-grandsons, Hank and Luke Hess; brother, Robert “Bobby” Glover; brother-in-law, Jimmy Tate; sister-in-law, Urusula Humphries and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Franklin Glover; sister, Mary Grace Glover and nephew, Mike Glover.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Wesley Miller, Marshall Hess, Charlie Huffman, Phil Edwards and Greg Edwards. Hank and Luke Hess will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 11-2 at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
