Funeral service for Orval Jasper Roberts, age 89, of Decatur, will be Thursday, April 19, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Turner and Rev. Jeff Sellers officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Roberts, died on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born in Lawrence County to Jasper Roberts and Lela Thomason Roberts. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Eva White, Olie Hampton, Vera Gillespie, and Selma Roberts. He was a former member of Union Grove Methodist Church for over 70 years. At the time of his death, he was a member of Austinville United Methodist Church. He retired from Fruehauf Plant following 32 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene McCulloch Roberts; one son, Ronald Roberts (Janice); one daughter, Donna Roberts Freeman; six grandchildren, Shannon Freeman, Jason Freeman, Amanda Coyle, Kimberley Bumpus, Kristina Rollins, and Kelly Tuck; 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
