It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Opal Mae Casey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who departed this life on September 9, 2024.   Born to Chaney L. and Mary I. Della (Painter) Fanning in Lynchburg, Tennessee, Opal lived a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alton S. Casey, and her son, Bobby L. Casey. Also preceding her are her daughter-in-law, Patricia (DeGroate) Casey, her granddaughter Tammy (Casey) DeYoung, and her son-in-law W. R. Woodall. [Name] was also preceded by her siblings: Clara V. (Fanning) Russell, Margie (Fanning) Burton, Wilburn Fanning, and Clyde Fanning.

She is survived by her two children: Shirley A. Woodall of Charlotte, NC, and Kelton R. Casey of New Port Richey, FL. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: J. Bruce Woodall of Camden, SC, Lori L. Woodall of Charlotte, NC, Gregory S. Casey of Monee, IL, Shannon R. (Casey) Hartnett of Wheaton, IL, and Zack Casey of Fishers, IN. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren who brought joy and pride to her life.

Opal will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her gentle spirit. She touched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
