Opal Joyce Hereford, 77, of Toney, Alabama passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at her home in Toney, Alabama.
Born Thursday, February 18, 1937, in Toney, Alabama she was the daughter of the late Murphy Anderson Heard and the late Gracie Elizabeth Broadway Heard. She was preceded in death by son, Mickey Hereford, sisters; Odell Bishop, Lola Mae Ferguson, brothers; Hurbert David Heard, Elmer Dean Heard and two grandchildren.
She lived all her life in this area and was a member of Macedonia “Little Flock” Holiness Church. She loved taking care of her family and others and enjoyed her chickens.
Surviving are husband of 58 years, Walter Hereford, Toney, Alabama, sons; David (Janell) Hereford, Ardmore, AL, Tracy ((Meredith) Hereford, Ardmore, AL, Jason (Janie) Hereford, Ardmore, AL, Zack (Donna) Hereford, Ardmore, AL, daughters; Vickie (Stacey) Eaves, Toney, AL, Tammy (Lonnie) Burgess, Toney, AL, brothers; Alton Heard, Ardmore, AL, Harvel Heard, Ardmore, AL, sisters; Kathyleen Marberry, Ardmore, AL, Marjorie Jones, Fayetteville,TN. fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Regena Spurgeon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL with Bro. Terry Futrell and Bro. Dale Riddle officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL. Pallbearers will be Murphy Hereford, Matthew Hereford, Jason Hereford, Trey Hereford, Donald Spurgeon, Horace Marberry and two honorary pallbearers, Jesse and Luke Hereford.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 10, 2014, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
