Funeral service for Opal Christine Holmes Skidmore, age 90, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, September 30, 2015, 12:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doyle Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Skidmore, who died Monday, September 28, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born August 18, 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lee Skidmore.
She is survived by four children, Carol Robinson (Dan) of Decatur, Cathy Thigpen (Tommy) of Alabaster; Ronnie Skidmore of Athens, and Debbie Adcox of Pelham; 11 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Robinson, Shawn McNeill, Nick Johnson, Mack Burns, Marvin Greeson, Jonathan Waldrep, and Matt Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the 14 great-grandsons.
