One Person Dies From Injuries Obtained After Two-Vehicle Auto Crash

FLAT ROCK-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person:

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. Friday, February 16, has claimed the life of a Flat Rock woman.

Lila F. Lay, 77, was critically injured when the 1998 Ford Ranger pickup she was driving struck the rear of the 2007 Ford Expedition driven by Charles C. Baker, 33, also of Flat Rock. Lay was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. Lay was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN, for medical treatment. On Saturday, February 17, Lay succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on Alabama 71 near the 23 mile marker, approximately one mile north of Flat Rock, in Jackson County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
