MADISON-Five police officers from the Madison Police Department are on leave as of Sunday night after a deadly officer-involved shooting at Planet Fitness on Highway 72 in Madison. The five officers are on paid administration leave which is common practice after officers are involved in a shooting.
On Sunday, October 27 Madison Police were called to Planet Fitness on a call to check a subject around 5 PM. According to police officers made contact with the person in question as they questioned the person an altercation took place. As a result of the altercation at least one officer fired shots and the man died from his injuries.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is now handling the investigation. According to authorities from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office more details should be released today.
