One Man Killed In Car Crash Near Leighton

LEIGHTON– A single-vehicle crash at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, claimed the life of a Tuscumbia man. Christopher Ted Mathis, 42, was killed when the 1992 Ford F-150 he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

Mathis was transported to Helen Keller Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The crash occurred on Lagrange Road, six miles south of Leighton.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
