One Man Dies In Vehicle Crash Involving a Bicycle

MADISON– The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident involving a bicycle has taken the life of a Madison man:

“A single-vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred at approximately 10:17 p.m. Sunday, February 9, has claimed the life of a Madison man.

The cyclist, Samuel M. Riley, 37, was critically injured when the bicycle he was operating was struck by the 2024 Jeep Wrangler driven by Surques S. Shackelford, 41, of Madison. Riley was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he succumbed to injuries sustained and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on Balch Road near Moore Street, approximately one mile north of Madison, in Madison County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
