COLBERT COUNTY– A single-vehicle crash at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, claimed the life of a Cherokee woman. Kiersten Nancy Paige Nichols, 18, was killed when the 2005 Kia Spectra in which she was a passenger entered a curve, left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned. Nichols, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle’s driver, Morgan Lynn Turnbow, 17, of Cherokee was transported to Helen Keller Hospital. The crash occurred on Asphalt Rock Road, five miles west of Cherokee.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
