A source at the Sheffield Police Department tells The Quad-Cities Daily that fugitive Dante Omar Montgomery has turned himself in to authorities. More as the story develops.
SHEFFIELD – It is really that simple. Sooner or later the authorities will catch you. Apparently, this fact escaped Damien Shipley, the 27 year old man from Huntsville who police say shot to death Dorian Cliff Hamilton on Sterling Avenue, February 22.

Sheffield Chief of Police Greg Ray told reporters this afternoon that Shipley, who has a lengthy police record, was being held in the Muscle Shoals City Jail on unrelated charges. He was picked up by Sheffield Officers on Monday. Shipley is charged with Capital Murder which carries the death-penalty. He was transported to Colbert County Jail immediately after the news conference.

Police are also looking for two other men who are suspected to be involved with Shipley in the murder.
They are 31 year old Fernando King, and Dante Omar Montgomery, age unknown. Ray said that the Colbert County District Attorney’s Office has preferred charges of Felony Murder against these men. Authorities are also looking for a female, identity not-released, who may have been driving the vehicle that carried the men on their alleged murderous errand. According to Police, illicit drugs played a very significant role in this case.
Ray had praise for his Department. He said the detectives and patrol officers did extraordinary work in their apprehension of Shipley. He also credited CrimeStoppers for helping in the case. King and Montgomery should be considered armed and dangerous, and no one should take the law into their own hands in trying to apprehend these two men.
