GADSDEN-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle has taken the life of one person and another has been airlifted to UAB in Birmingham:
“A single-vehicle crash at approximately 7:11 p.m. Monday, July 25, has fatally injured a Glencoe woman.
Erin M. Mims, 29, was fatally injured when the 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle that she was a passenger on, left the roadway and struck several trees. Mims was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the Harley Davidson, Brian A. Maloy, 51, of Altoona was also injured and transported to the University Of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) via helicopter for treatment.
The crash occurred on Interstate 59 near mile marker 186, approximately four miles north of Gadsden, in Etowah County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
