One Arrested On Charges Of Exploitation Of The Elderly

DECATUR-On Monday, March 30  the Decatur Police Department made an arrest on charges of Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person.  Here has how the Decatur Police describe the arrest of one one and the events leading up to the arrest:

“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On February 9th of 2015, The Rainey Family reported a theft from the PNC Bank account of Tommy Lee Rainey (now deceased). During the course of the investigation, Claudia Yvette Joshua was developed as a suspect. The investigation revealed that during the year 2014, Joshua was using Rainey’s PNC Bank account to pay her personal bills while she was employed at PNC Bank. During 2014, Rainey was mentally incapacitated and committed to a care facility.
On March 30th of 2015, Joshua was located, transported to and interviewed at the police department. As a result, Claudia Yvette Joshua was charged with one count of Second Degree Theft and one count of Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person in the Second Degree. She was processed into the Decatur City Jail and then transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
The Theft of Property in the Second Degree is a Class C Felony.
Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person in the Second Degree is a Class C Felony.”
