DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department arrested a woman suspected of selling prescription drugs illegally. Here is how the Decatur Police Department describe events leading up to the arrest:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
During the months of January through March 2015 members of the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit conducted an investigation concerning illegal drug activity by a female named Deborah Barnett Mitchell. Mitchell sold quantities of controlled prescription medication on two occasions at different locations within the Decatur City Limits. Inv. Vance Summers later obtained felony warrants for Mitchell charging her with Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
On May 19, 2015 members of the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit and Anti-Crime Unit initiated a traffic stop on Mitchell’s vehicle on 26th Ave SE. Investigators placed Mitchell under arrest and she was subsequently found to be in possession of drug use paraphernalia inside her vehicle.
Mitchell was transported to the Decatur City Jail and charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Intent to Use. Mitchell will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $10,500.00 total bond.”
