Ona Vell BowdenOna Vell Bowden, 79 of Harvest, passed away on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, at her residence. Mrs. Bowden was born on January 6th, 1945, in Huntsville, to H.B. Christian and Sallie Tipton Christian.

Mrs. Bowden is survived by her son David Bowden (Lisa), of Harvest; son-in-law Rodney Dempsey, of Tanner; bonus daughter-in-law Shawn Dempsey; grandsons Shawn Bowden (Bre), Brandon Dempsey (Megan), Shane Dempsey, Tyler Dempsey, and Seger Dempsey; great-grandchildren Brenley Dempsey, Raelynn Dempsey, Ryker Dempsey, Eli Bowden, and Lucas Bowden; sisters Lerrie Bowden, Vergie Bowden, and Vollie Christian; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Hubert Bowden; daughter Tabatha “Jill” Dempsey; brothers Buddy Christian and Melvin Christian; and sisters Beacher Mae Colbert, Sylvia Brazier, Rachael Wales, and Malaysia Holman.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowden will be Friday, December 20th, 2024, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Bro. Larry Dyar and Bro. Wes Watts officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00-1:45pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Reunion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bowden, Shane Dempsey, Brandon Dempsey, Chad Self, Tyler Dempsey, and Shawn Bowden. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Dempsey and Terry Wales.

Mrs. Bowden was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was faithful, loving, and ambitious. To sum it up, she was “one of a kind!” She was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and loved saying “I’m blessed!” Mrs. Bowden enjoyed many hobbies such as quilting, canning, working jig-saw puzzles, and singing. She loved cooking for her family and friends, and playing games and cards with her sisters. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
