Ollie Pearl “Dollie” Hicks, age 98 of Jackson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 13, 2022.
She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and friends.
Ollie dedicated her life to serving the Lord at Parkburg Baptist Church in Pinson, TN, including being the Children’s Director for many years. She worked at the Urology Clinic until retirement, where she spent the rest of her life traveling, taking care of her family, and attending church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Marie Butler Diggs; her husband, William Hicks; both of her children, Janice Matthews and Michael Hicks; her grandson, Martin Matthews; her brothers, Fred Diggs, Harold Diggs (Inez), G.C. “Seba” Diggs (Dorthy), Neal Diggs (Alenia), Curtis Diggs (Laura Mae), and Gene Diggs (Alice); and her sister, Lessie Diggs Johns (Jack).
She leaves behind her grandchildren, Melanie Briley (Johnny), Chris Hicks (Michele), Craig Matthews, and Jeremy Hicks (Rachael); her great grandchildren, Alicia Gammons (Jimmie), Matthew Sloan, Cassidy Copeland (Nate), Christine Matthews, Emily Matthews, Macon Hicks, Caleb Hicks, Lawson Hicks, Ollie K. Hicks, Liliana Hicks, and Mindy Carnell (Shane); great great grandchildren, Rowdy Gammons, Briley Carnell, Jadelyn Sloan, Gauge Carnell, Waylon Matthews, Lawless David, Paisley Pilkington, Jenna Carnell, River Gammons, Eliana Gammons, Nova Copeland, Noel Paulus, Matilyn Sloan, Leon Copeland, Austin Hicks and Michael Hicks Knight; as well as many honorary family members, friends, and other loved ones.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Parkburg Baptist Church, 1180 Parkburg Rd., Pinson. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Gary Diggs officiating. Burial will follow in Parkburg Cemetery.
Active pallbearers to serve will be Chris Hicks, Jeremy Hicks, Matthew Sloan, Macon Hicks, Nate Copeland, and Jimmie Gammons.
Honorary pallbearer will be Johnny Briley.
