Oliver Wayne Harrison, 76, of Saulsbury, TN
Mr. Harrison passed away on Friday evening, May 2, 2014, at his home near Saulsbury, TN.
A native of Nashville, he was the son of the late Bernice and Sophie Bell Harrison. At age 13, he and his family moved to Rockford, IL where they lived until he moved to Dallas, TX, as a young man. Mr. Harrison served the Dallas Police Department for over 28 years, when he retired as a Corporal in 1988. He was on duty, working the parade route in Dallas, the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Mr. Harrison spent time in Hardeman County visiting relatives throughout the years and moved here permanently after his retirement.
A Baptist in belief, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, singing and playing guitar, spending time with family and visiting people. His family was especially fond of his wonderful storytelling ability.
He leaves his wife, Millie Matlock Harrison of Saulsbury; 2 daughters, Vicki S. Nicholson and her husband, Joseph, of Clearwater, FL and Teri Lynn Iaguessa and her husband, Rich, of N. Branford, CT; a son, Jerry Wayne Harrison of Justin, TX; a sister, Lois Tipton of Dickson, TN; 2 brothers, Donald Bernice Harrison of Saulsbury and Jackie Harrison of Nashville; 6 grandchildren, Joseph Nicholson, IV, Ashli Nicholson, Kristin Scepanski, Jonathan Whitehead, Hailey and Jenna Harrison; and 2 great-grandchildren, Danny Scepanski and Alex Zander Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Sue Fitzgerald and Dorothy Jean Skipper; and a brother, Bill Harrison.
