Hanvy passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on September 15, 1929, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, to the late Isaiah Workman and Maggie Ann Woods Workman, Oklean lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering patience, and boundless love for her family.
Oklean dedicated her life to raising eight wonderful children, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her nurturing spirit and calm demeanor were a testament to her strength and grace. Known for her soft-spoken nature, she had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and valued. A devout and godly woman, Oklean’s spirituality was a guiding force in her life and a source of inspiration for her family and community.
One of Oklean’s cherished hobbies was collecting dolls, a pastime that brought her much joy and reflected her appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. However, nothing brought her more joy than her family, whom she loved beyond measure. Her home was always filled with warmth and the laughter of loved ones, a testament to the loving and nurturing environment she created.
Oklean’s legacy is one of love, patience, and spiritual strength. She leaves behind a family that will forever be grateful for the lessons she imparted and the unwavering love she provided.
Oklean is reunited with her husband: G.W. Hanvy, Jr.; children: George Gary Hanvy and Donnie Wade Hanvy; parents; and 10 siblings.
Oklean leaves her legacy behind in her children: Catherine Smith, Carolyn Smith, Ronnie Hanvy, Patricia Sanders, Steve Hanvy, and Evelyn Hanvy; sisters: Linda Jane Cure and Janet Lanier; a combined number of 125 grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreatgrandchildren and 4 more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A service for Oklean will be Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Willaims Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee at 2:00 PM with Leland Ping Officiating. Oklean will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens.
