Odis Waedell Henderson – Obituary

Odis Waedell Henderson, age 88, died Monday, March 28, 2016. His family will receive friends Wednesday, noon-1 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Pontotoc, Mississippi. His funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 1 p.m. with Curtis Lewey officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Henderson was a native of Pontotoc, Mississippi. He was ordained in 1953 by the First Baptist Church in Tupelo and graduated from Mississippi College in 1954 and became a pastor in Webster County, Mississippi. He pastored several churches in Mississippi and attended the New Orleans Baptist Seminary where he graduated in 1960 and continued to pastor churches. In 1970, he became the superintendent of Missions of the Bolivar Baptist Association and retired from that position in 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Belk Henderson.

Survivors include his daughter, Kaye King McCurdy; grandchildren, Elizabeth Warner, Rebecca McCurdy, and Matthew Phillips; nephew, Allen Easterling (Virginia Easterling); and nieces, Dianne Greenhill and Karen Krusa.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
