MUSCLE SHOALS– Carly O’Dell, of Rogersville, Ala., received Northwest-Shoals Community College’s (NW-SCC) most prestigious honor Tuesday night, April 12, 2016, when she was awarded the President’s Award for the Shoals campus.
While maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, Carly is actively involved with the Alpha Sigma Beta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. She was recently named as one of two students to represent NW-SCC as a 2016 All-Alabama Academic Team recipient. Carly is a product of the Shoals Scholar Dollars scholarship.
Carly has also contributed to her community through participation in the local soup kitchen, volunteering through her church, and coaching youth basketball.
Carly has been consistently named to the President’s List for her academic achievements. She plans to transfer to Auburn University this fall and earn a degree in Computer Engineering.
The President’s Award is the most prestigious honor awarded by NW-SCC. The faculty submits nominations to the Award Committee for the final selection. The recipient must have earned a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Also, the recipient must have demonstrated leadership and actively participated in community service while attending NW-SCC.
