ATHENS-Athens-Limestone County Tourism promotes tourism in Athens as well as our surrounding communities in Limestone County including Ardmore, Clements, East Limestone, Elkmont, Lester, Mooresville, Piney Chapel, Tanner and West Limestone. Our visitors are drawn to Limestone County for a variety of reasons including Events, Attractions, Outdoor Lifestyle and Family Gatherings. Below are some of the events that have been scheduled for October.
Oct 1, 2022 — Yesterdays Event Center. “60’s Beach Party” Early Dinner Show. Featuring “The DJ’s & Friends” Saturday evenings, all tickets $25 each includes reserved seating, complete dinner, show, unlimited soft drinks, and free parking. Doors open 5pm, program including dinner 5:30pm, showtime 6:30pm, 90 minute show. E-mail reservations required in advance.
Oct 1, 2022 — Athtoberfest – Join us for the second annual “Athtoberfest” on the city square in Athens, AL! Saturday, October 1, from 2PM-10PM. Live music , cold beer, authentic brats and German pretzels await!
Oct 2022 — Athens North Pole Tree Sponsorship open… help make this community event held annual in Big Spring Memorial Park in the month of December happen by sponsoring a tree for your business, church, group, family or non-profit to decorate. Don’t want to decorate? Non-profits in the area are looking for sponsors and they’ll handle the decorating. Oct 2022 — Haunt Walks Tickets on sale at www.Eventbrite.com. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for kids. Two Walking Tours Nightly on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October at 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm. New this year is Wagon Tours for $25 each leaving at 6:30 pm. Oct 8, 2022 — Wacky Quacky Ducky Derby rubber duck race will take place at Big Spring Memorial Park in Athens at 4:00 pm. Adopt $5 ducks to enter the race for a chance to win the $2,000 Grand Prize. Ducks must be adopted in advance. Call 256.233.8000 or Click here to adopt ducks.
Oct 9, 2022 — Athens Cemetery Stroll in the Athens City Cemetery (East Hobbs Street near College Street in Athens) with Hobbs Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Stroll among the headstones in the pastoral Athens City Cemetery as the spirits return to share tales of history, family an lore of some of Limestone County[‘s most renowned figures — as well as a few visiting spirits who have come to recount their lives for you. Oct 2022 — Doomsday Haunt Who knows what awaits at The Doomed Town (24952 U.S. Highway 72 in Athens) since its’ long-forgotten nuclear explosion and quarantine has faded from memory except those forsaken residents left behind the fences. Ticket sales from 7:00PM-11:00PM; $20.00 each or speed up your access with a slash pass for $30.00. Suggest 12 and up; under 12 accompanied by an adult and parental discretion advised. Oct 2022 — Lester Haunted Hospital (30338 Lester Road in Lester) will be filled with screams and terror every Friday and Saturday night in October from 8:00PM-11:00PM. Oct 2022 — Zombie Paintball at Grace Hill Farms (22611 Grace Hill Lane in Athens) with gates opening at 6:30PM and last ride out at 10:30PM every Friday and Saturday night in October. Jump on board the Zombie Assault Vehicle featuring several mounted paint ball guns to fend off the zombie hordes that have taken over the farm. Trip last approximately 25 minutes on a 2.5 mile course with 100 glow-in-the-dark rounds per participant. Riders must maintain Covid precautions including mask and sanitizing. $25.00 per rider (100 rounds included); $15.00 for evacuees (just riding). Concessions available as well as a shooting range participants can enjoy at $5.00 per 60 paintballs. Others activities as well like movies, cornhole and horseshoes. Oct 2022 — Vietnam Veterans Spaghetti Dinner (17915 W Elm St, Athens). inner is 5:00PM-7:00PM. Meal includes Spaghetti, Texas toast, salad or coleslaw, dessert and a beverage for $8.00. Eat in or take out. Shady Grady One Man Band performs at the dinner time. All proceeds go to High School Scholarship. Delivery available within the City Limits.

Oct 8 2022 — 22nd Annual Wacky Quacky Ducky Derby with KALB adjacent to Big Spring Memorial Park (127 East Street in Athens) from 4:00PM-6:00PM. Oct 8 2022 — Annual Sports-Plex Charity Car Show at the Athens SportsPlex (US31 and Elm Street in Athens) from 9:00AM-2:00PM benefiting Eli’s Block Party Childhood Cancer Foundation. Thanks to the Limestone County Mustang Club (of which Eli was a member), EBP has been the beneficiary of the Athens Sportsplex Charity Car Show in the past. The show is hosted and run by members of the Mustang Club. Traditionally, it is a “Show and Shine” event with cash prize drawings and 50/50 tickets. It attracts hundreds of vehicles with a variety of unique and interesting makes and models. All proceeds go to the charity being featured. Registration is the day of the event and is typically $10.
