THE SHOALS – Eleven teams from Northwest Alabama competed at Northwest Shoals Community College on Saturday, October 22 for the 2022 BEST Robotics Semi-Finals. BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) is a national competition held annually in the fall to engage middle and high school students in engineering careers and opportunities. Each fall, more than 18,000 students participate in the nationwide competition.
Creekside Academy took home first place in the BEST competition, while Trinitas Classical claimed first with its Robot Performance. Congratulations to all of the teams that competed in the competition.

3rd place: Central High School
4th place: Covenant Christian School
Robot Performance :
1st place : Trinitas Classical Academy
2nd place: Phillips High School
3rd place: Tharptown High School
4th place: Rogers High School
A total of four teams will travel to Auburn University for the South’s BEST title: Creekside Academy (BEST team), Brooks High School (BEST team), Trinitas Classical Academy (robot only), and Phillips High School (robot only). The Regional Robotics Championship, hosted by Auburn University, will be December 3-4, 2022.
“This is the first year since Covid that we have seen large cheering and enthusiastic crowds! It was one of the BEST days of our lives!” stated Kim Sheppard, organizer of this year’s competition.
