NW-SCC hosted high school students in annual Career Tech Skills Challenge

MUSCLE SHOALS-Approximately 120 local high school students demonstrated their skills in the annual welding competition and salon and spa skills competition Friday, March 18, on the Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) Shoals campus.

 

The welding competition featured four contests: 7018 (stick welding), 6010 (stick welding), Flux-Core (wire welding), and Torch. Each school will be divided between Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit, Non Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit, and Agriculture department students. Judges for the competition consisted of business and industry partners. The Salon and Spa skills competition featured four contests: Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetics and Nails.

 

Local high schools competing were: Allen Thornton Career Technical Center, Ardmore High School, Cherokee High School, Collinwood High School (TN), Florence High School, Franklin County Career Technical Center, Haleyville, High School, Hardin County High School (TN), Lawrence County Career Technical Center (AL), Lawrence County High School (TN), Limestone County Career Technical Center, Loretto High School (TN), Muscle Shoals Career Academy, Russellville High School, Tanner High School, Wayne County High School (TN), Winston Career Academy.
