Funeral service for Norman W. Spears, Jr., age 79, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 2 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Wayne McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM on Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home.
Norman was born on March 18, 1944, in Lepanto, AR, to the late Norman W. Spears, Sr., and Una Fox Spears. Mr. Spears was a graduate of Lepanto High School, earned his associate degree from the University of Arkansas, and attended LSU college of banking. Norman was very intelligent with numbers. His lifelong banking career started after college, and he later moved to Fayetteville in 1978. Mr. Spears retired as CFO at Bank of Lincoln County, in 2008. After retirement, Norman worked with Attorney Jim Kidd and Dixie Smith Insurance Agency. When not working or crunching numbers, Mr. Spears enjoyed golfing and hunting. He was of the Baptist faith. Norman passed away on October 4, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center, in Columbia, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Caldwell Spears; bonus sons, Daryl (Vickie) Daniel of Mobile, AL, and Jason Daniel of Fayetteville, TN; brothers, Charles (Mari) Spears of Texas, and Richard Spears of Louisiana; four bonus grandchildren; eight bonus great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews. In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha P. Spears in 1990; brother, Robert (Judy) Spears; and sister-in-law, Alva Spears.
