Norman Eris Hardison, Jr, 73 years old, of Columbia, TN passed away very peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Norman Eris Hardison, Sr. and the late Mildred DeLois Fitzgerald Hardison.
Norman was a graduate of Columbia Central High School class of 1966 and attended Columbia State Community College before being drafted into the Army and serving two years. He fought in Vietnam and received a medal of foreign wars, good conduct and the Bronze Star with Valor.
Norman was an avid fisherman and loved spending time on the river with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and made friends easily with everyone that he met.
He worked for General Electric until they shut down in 1994 and had a special relationship with everyone there, they were his second family. After leaving GE, he worked for General Motors and retired in May of 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Hardison; daughters, Honey Renee Hardison of Decatur, Alabama; Jencie (Jason) Potts of Columbia; step children, Marty (Joy) Hutcherson of Mt. Pleasant; Carrie (Anthony) Stewart of Columbia; grandchildren, Julia Smith, Gavin Bryant, Tristin Harmon, Walker Potts, Brody Potts, Gunner Potts, Justice (Ryan) Pilkinton, Madison (Will) Gentry, Logan Stewart; five great grandchildren and two more on the way; brothers, Anthony (Tasca) Hardison of Columbia; Milton (Debbie) Hardison of St. Louis, Missouri; aunts, Evelyn (Buck) Barnett, Tish Fitzgerald, and a host of cousins, nieces, and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Hardison Sandrell and granddaughter, Bayley Marie Hutcherson.

A memorial visitation will be held for family and friends Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.
