He was born November 7, 1936 to Ofel and Margrette (Speegle) Calvert in Cullman County. Norman served in the United States Air Force from 1955 – 1963. He worked many jobs to provide for his family. He was best known as a sweet potato farmer. He was a deacon and active member of Logan Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Denny and James Garren “Buddy” Calvert; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many aunts and uncles and a nephew.
Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Janice Calvert; children: Margaret Sobie (Chuck), Phillip Calvert (Karen), Michelle Musmeci (Mike) and Kevin Calvert (Stephanie); brothers: Edwin Calvert, Frank Calvert (Virgie) and Greg Calvert (Kathy); Grandchildren: Meghan Farrow (Brian), Jennifer Puleo (Bryan), Rebekah Smith (Spencer), Jason Graves (Mallory), Stephanie Dye (Chris), Nathan Calvert (Katy) and Brody Calvert; Great grandchildren: Maleah, Maggie, Gabriel, and Nathaniel Farrow; Evan, Aiden, David and Isabella Puleo; Savannah, Micah, Samuel and Micayla Smith; Chandler, Mason and Maddie Graves; Austin Hasting; Star and Noah Dye; and Lindsey Calvert; great great granddaughter, Vivien Graves; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at Moss Service Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 11:00 AM. until the Celebration of Norman’s life that will begin at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery.
